RANDOM TIPS:
VEGETARIAN/VEGAN FOOD:
PUERTO RICO RECOMMENDATIONS:
- There are islands (Culebra & Vieques) off of Puerto Rico that can be reached by Ferry or plane. We decided to hold off on the islands; however, the best bioluminescent bay is found there
- If renting a car, we stocked up on items at Walmart.
- Vegetarian/vegan: Easy to find vegetarian/vegan places to eat near San Juan. Outside the city, it was more difficult
- Our best meal was the pizza from Arte Sano Food Truck
- Best dessert was from Senor Paleta - the chocolate fudge popsicle! Yum!
- Water is safe to drink from the tap
- Local foods to try: Vegan Mofongo, Coconut Candy - By Dulzura Borincana (we bought from Walmart)
- 1) Spend no more than half a day in Old San Juan
- 2) Definitely go to El Yunque Rainforest - don't forget to make reservations!
- 3) Las Paylas - natural water slide
- 4) Go Kayaking in a bioluminescent bay - try to go when there's no moon.
- It is tough for kayaking, so make sure in shape. There are also boats that go out instead
- 5) Explore Cuevas del Indio
- Don't Pay! park at KM 8.2 and walk across the street
- 6) Visit Cascada Gozalandia - beautiful waterfalls
- 7) If have enough time, (we did not) - take the ferry or fly to Vieques/Culebra Island
