WHAT TO BRING:
LANGUAGE: Within city center, you will be able to get by with English. It is helpful to know basic Spanish phrases for when in doubt.
RANDOM TIPS:
VEGETARIAN/VEGAN FOOD:
- Taxi Apps to Download : (1) Cabify (2) Uber
- Check which one is cheaper prior to ordering. Cabify worked easier for us =)
- Seville Airport: We used Uber/Cabify to pick us up.
- You pick up Uber/Cabify from a separate garage that is 5 min walk from the baggage claim.
- Flight: We flew TAP Air Portugal to get from Lisbon to Seville and had a good experience
- It is a touristy area, but central to everything and has most of the attractions that you will be going to within walking/short Uber/Cabify distance
- CASH: Recommend bringing a small amount of euros, but most places took credit cards.
- CREDIT CARDS: Make sure and use credit cards with No Foreign Transaction Fee.
- Always use Euros instead of USD for better conversion rate
- Very safe city overall; follow common travel precautions
- sunscreen is a MUST (protect from heat)
- Depending on when you go in the year, it can be very hot (think 80 F +) and there is not much shade; Try and go in the winter when temperatures are more tolerable.
- Print color copies of passport to carry in wallet
- Will need a plug converter (if coming from USA)
- Download Google Translate App to help communicate
- There's a lot of college kids, so it's a young, vibrant city
- Download Google maps for any city you will be visiting
- Download WhatsApp to communicate with tour guide/groups
- If possible, avoid visiting any major tourist attraction on weekends / holidays due to heavy crowds. Morning & weekdays are much better to visit.
- Seville is not a very vegetarian/vegan friendly city. There are options, but you will be limited to very carb heavy items such as burgers.
- Spanish Dishes to try: TAPAS!
- Water was ok to drink from the tap.
OUR RECOMMENDATIONS:
- 1) Seville Free Walking Tour with White Umbrella Tours - very detailed and gave a great intro into Seville including its history and main sites.
- 2) Plaza de España - one of the most beautiful plazas we've ever seen. A scene from Star Wars was also filmed here.
Plaza de Espana
- 3) Seville Alcazar - palace that is beautiful to see/walk through. Recommend taking a tour to get the full experience. We didn't take a tour and felt it would've been more impressive with the history behind everything.
Seville Alcazar
- 4) Setas de Seville - Worth walking to and seeing from the outside, but do not recommend paying to go up to the top.
Las Setas
- 5) Seville Cathedral and La Giralda - one of the most beautiful and largest cathedrals in the world. La Giralda has a great view of the city.
- 6) Optional: Triana was not a must-see, but where the locals live.
